Is this a franchise?
No. Our Town Matters is a brand licensing opportunity, not a franchise. You're licensing the right to use our brand and operate with our support — not buying into a franchise system. That means no royalties on your revenue, no Franchise Disclosure Document, no state franchise fees, and significantly more flexibility in how you run your business.
Do I need a marketing background?
No marketing expertise required. Our best owners are sales professionals, relationship builders, and community connectors. If you understand how to build trust and have business conversations, we can teach you the rest. Our training program is designed for smart people from all backgrounds.
Can HQ really handle my clients' work?
Yes. Our Montrose team handles service delivery for licensees on the HQ Fulfillment Track. You sell the relationship and manage the client — we do the production work. You maintain full brand presence; the client experience stays consistent and professional.
What services can I sell to clients?
You can offer a full suite of local marketing services — social media management, website design, email marketing, photography, event coordination, reputation management, local SEO, community advertising packages, and full-service marketing retainers. Retail pricing typically ranges from $500/month for entry-level services to $5,000+/month for full retainers.
What if I want to hire my own staff?
Absolutely. Many owners start with HQ fulfillment and grow into building their own team as their client base expands. The license fully supports both models — you decide what makes sense for your market, your goals, and your timeline.
What does the territory arrangement look like?
Standard licenses are non-exclusive — you can operate in your market without geographic restriction. If you want guaranteed exclusivity in a defined area, we offer Exclusive Territory licenses. Those are available on a first-come basis and are priced at $4,500 setup (vs. $2,500 for standard).
How long does it take to get up and running?
Most owners complete onboarding and launch within 30–60 days. The first two weeks cover your business setup and brand assets. Weeks three and four get your sales tools ready and culminate in your live HQ onboarding call. Many owners have their first client conversation before onboarding is even complete.
What happens to my license if I want to step back or exit?
Licenses are renewable on an ongoing basis through your monthly fee — there's no arbitrary expiration forcing renegotiation. If you choose to exit, the license agreement covers transition terms. A minimal transfer process is available if you want to hand the business to a successor.
