Tonya Maddox is the Founder and CEO of Our Town Matters, a local marketing firm focused on community-oriented growth and engagement. She brings a comprehensive background in change management, marketing, business development, media relations, and event management, and has a track record of driving positive change and measurable growth for organizations throughout her career. Before launching Our Town Matters, Maddox was recruited to Montrose to serve as publisher of the Montrose Daily Press. Prior to that role, she worked with Gatehouse Media, where she was responsible for advertising and marketing across a group of newspapers in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska, strengthening regional brand presence and revenue performance. Her experience also includes a leadership position at a technology start-up, Legal Hub, an online community designed to foster long-term relationships between attorneys and potential clients. At Legal Hub, Maddox oversaw operations, advertising, marketing, and public relations, helping to position the platform as a bridge between legal professionals and the communities they serve. Earlier in her career, Maddox served as Publisher for Dolan Media’s Carolinas Group, where she managed three legal publications: North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, South Carolina Lawyers Weekly, and The Mecklenburg Times. In that capacity, she led editorial direction, business development, and market strategy, ensuring each publication met the needs of its professional readership. Over the years, Maddox has held leadership roles with organizations in Texas, California, and North Carolina, building a diverse portfolio of experience across markets and industries. Raised in rural Texas, she studied Mass Communications and Political Science at Texas Wesleyan University. Today, Maddox and her family make their home on the Western Slope of Colorado, where she continues to invest her expertise in the growth and vitality of local communities.
